WHAT A YEAR!
The Mavs returned home yesterday with their heads held high, having completed a 2nd straight trip to State. While we came up short in Yakima, we were thrilled to have the experience and celebrate the game on the biggest high school stage. Thanks to everyone who joined us in Yakima with many driving over early on Friday morning, Our crowd was definitely the biggest of all of the 8x teams with 8am matches!
The season was a huge success! Getting back to State after graduating all conference seniors is a big deal. We are very proud of the program as a whole. Development year for sure sub-varsity but one we will look back on as greatly beneficial in the long-run.

STATE 2023
We are headed back to state! We play Peninsula on Friday at 8:00am on Court 1. The winner advances to play #3 Mead at 11:45am on Court 5. The loser of the 8:00am match is out.
Transportation: We are renting two full-size SUVs. Emily and I are drivers. A big part of this experience is the travel there and back. With that I must insist that all players travel with the team there and back, and not with parents. Thank you.
Departure: We will leave Meadowdale at 10am on Thursday. There will be some send-off as teachers will be encouraged to allow their classes to send us off. Parents and family members are welcome to be there. It was pretty cool last year!
Return: Regardless of our status, we will have a minimum of two nights in Yakima. We will stay Friday night to take in the State Tournament for a full-day.
Meals: The school provides food $ for players and coaches. Stephanie Jenkins is coordinating menu items for the various meals. If anyone has any questions, please contact Stephanie. We are hoping to do one meal with players and parents if our schedule allows. Again, please be sure to reach out to Stephanie with any questions on meals.
Team lodging: We are staying as a team at the Holiday Inn, 802 East Yakima Avenue, Yakima, WA 98901
Tournament facility: Yakima Valley SunDome - 1301 S Fair Ave, Yakima, WA 98901
Tournament merchandise: If you would like to pre-order tournament merchandise, you can do so on site or in advance via this website: https://rushteamapparel.com/
Purchasing tournament tickets: Fans are encouraged to buy tickets online, ahead of the tournament. You can do so via this website: https://www.ticketswest.com/events/detail/wiaa-3a-4a-volleyball-tournament

2022
2022 STATE/SEASON WRAP-UP
What a year! Our incredible season came to a close on Thursday night after two hard-fought, no-quit matches at the state tournament. I am beyond grateful for this team and this program. The 2022 Mavericks have set a high bar. As I consider our season through the lens of our aspirational core values as communicated in our first meeting, back in early September, I am so proud of what we've accomplished, on and off the floor.
Each core value was demonstrated by a consistent dedication from day 1 through yesterday on our drive home.
The girls were challenged from the outset to sacrifice their own selfish desires in favor of what was best for the team. They were asked to trust the process and control the things within their control. They were presented with their roles and asked to accept their role. Every player had a role, and all roles were incredibly important to the success of the team.
An overall record of 16-6, and 13-2 in Wesco. 2nd place finishes in conference and in district. A return to the state tournament, first time since 2013. More importantly, the girls were a joy to be with and coach. On behalf of Tessa and Emily, thank you. Thank you for trusting us with this experience. We know it wasn't perfect but we gave it our best as coaches, role models, leaders.
Thanks for all of your support! The fan support we received all season long was off the charts amazing. Thank you parents, grand-parents, siblings, friends, classmates, Mavs Mob, administrators. Meadowdale is a special place and I'm excited for our future!
Special thanks to our amazing first-year AD, Mike Nelson. Our incredible District AD, Angie McGuire and Katt Lewis in the district office. Thank you Melissa Murphy with ASB and all of our gameday volunteers. The biggest shoutout to Stephanie Jenkins who coordinated everything from the volunteers, team pictures, state hotel, decorations, state t-shirts, room decorations, restaurant reservations, goodie-bags...the list goes on and on!
Looking forward to tying a bow on the season for the entire program on Saturday, December 3rd, 4-6pm in the Great Hall.

- Competition – We can’t reach our greatest potential unless we are challenged
- Commitment – To grow we must be willing to risk and to work hard
- Composure – We are ambassadors for ourselves, our school and our family
- Community – We must be connected and committed to each other in unity and trust

SENIOR NIGHT
We look forward to honoring our Fab 5 amazing seniors prior to our Thursday match vs Snohomish! We are incredibly grateful for the impact these 5 girls have had on the program. Please plan to join us early on Thursday for a ceremony on the court to celebrate our Seniors!
BIG FINAL WEEK OF REG SEASON

MHSVB CLUB VOLLEYBALL OVERVIEW RECAP
A major component to building a championship program will be training out-of-season. This year, 12 of our 13 rostered varsity players have played club volleyball for several years. The sport of volleyball is a skill-specific sport and those skills are acquired over time with mindful repetition. There is simply no substitute for improving at volleyball, than playing volleyball.
FIRST ROAD MATCH - MONDAY AT MONROE
Bus departs MHS at 3:45pm on Monday. JV/C plays at 5:15, Varsity 7pm. Bus returns when the varsity match is over. Policy for JV/C Team is to remain for minimum of one varsity set.
INSTRASQUAD SCRIMMAGE - TUESDAY, SEPT 6TH
Please plan to join us on Tuesday, September 6th for our Intra-squad Scrimmage night. We'll begin at 4pm with a C-Team Scrimmage, followed JV and then Varsity. This will be a dress-rehearsal for our first match on Thursday, September 8th vs Lake Washington.
The evening will also be another time to get signed-up for volunteer jobs on home match nights. Many hands make light work! We need everyone to pitch-in and help out with the following jobs for both JV and C-Team home matches:
Scorekeeper
Scoreboard or flipper
Libero Tracker
Line Judge (2x)
