SUMMER PARENT MEETING RECAP
Thank you all for joining us at the Parent (and Player) Meadowdale Volleyball Summer Overview Meeting. More information is forthcoming including registration information for Team Camp, July 10-13th.
SUMMER PARENT (AND PLAYER) MEETING - MAY 10TH
Please make plans to join us on Wednesday, May 10th at 5-6pm in the High School Library for a Meadowdale Volleyball Summer 2023 overview meeting. In the meeting, I plan to review our summer schedule, introduce coaches and provide an overview of the program. We have a pretty big summer schedule relative to prior years with the highlight being our 2023 Team Camp, July 10-13th.
The meeting is for current 9-11th grade parents (and players) as well as incoming fall 2023 9th grade families. If you have an interest in being a part of the program this fall, please make every effort to attend this meeting. In addition to the overview, I'll also be seeking calendar commitments to our summer scheduled events.

2022 STATE/SEASON WRAP-UP
What a year! Our incredible season came to a close on Thursday night after two hard-fought, no-quit matches at the state tournament. I am beyond grateful for this team and this program. The 2022 Mavericks have set a high bar. As I consider our season through the lens of our aspirational core values as communicated in our first meeting, back in early September, I am so proud of what we've accomplished, on and off the floor.
Each core value was demonstrated by a consistent dedication from day 1 through yesterday on our drive home.
The girls were challenged from the outset to sacrifice their own selfish desires in favor of what was best for the team. They were asked to trust the process and control the things within their control. They were presented with their roles and asked to accept their role. Every player had a role, and all roles were incredibly important to the success of the team.
An overall record of 16-6, and 13-2 in Wesco. 2nd place finishes in conference and in district. A return to the state tournament, first time since 2013. More importantly, the girls were a joy to be with and coach. On behalf of Tessa and Emily, thank you. Thank you for trusting us with this experience. We know it wasn't perfect but we gave it our best as coaches, role models, leaders.
Thanks for all of your support! The fan support we received all season long was off the charts amazing. Thank you parents, grand-parents, siblings, friends, classmates, Mavs Mob, administrators. Meadowdale is a special place and I'm excited for our future!
Special thanks to our amazing first-year AD, Mike Nelson. Our incredible District AD, Angie McGuire and Katt Lewis in the district office. Thank you Melissa Murphy with ASB and all of our gameday volunteers. The biggest shoutout to Stephanie Jenkins who coordinated everything from the volunteers, team pictures, state hotel, decorations, state t-shirts, room decorations, restaurant reservations, goodie-bags...the list goes on and on!
Looking forward to tying a bow on the season for the entire program on Saturday, December 3rd, 4-6pm in the Great Hall.

- Competition – We can’t reach our greatest potential unless we are challenged
- Commitment – To grow we must be willing to risk and to work hard
- Composure – We are ambassadors for ourselves, our school and our family
- Community – We must be connected and committed to each other in unity and trust

SENIOR NIGHT
We look forward to honoring our Fab 5 amazing seniors prior to our Thursday match vs Snohomish! We are incredibly grateful for the impact these 5 girls have had on the program. Aubrey Congdon, Eden Thoesen, Emy Hysa, Steph Grimes and Tanna Kollen represent the very best qualities of a MEADOWDALE VOLLEYBALL player. Please plan to join us early on Thursday for a ceremony on the court to celebrate our Seniors!
BIG FINAL WEEK OF REG SEASON
Our final full week of the regular season with big matches at Archbishop Murphy and home vs Snohomish. Conference Championship implications as well as seeding to the District Tournament are at stake. Hope to see great Maverick crowds at both games!
MHSVB CLUB VOLLEYBALL OVERVIEW RECAP
A major component to building a championship program will be training out-of-season. This year, 12 of our 13 rostered varsity players have played club volleyball for several years. The sport of volleyball is a skill-specific sport and those skills are acquired over time with mindful repetition. There is simply no substitute for improving at volleyball, than playing volleyball.
FIRST ROAD MATCH - MONDAY AT MONROE
Bus departs MHS at 3:45pm on Monday. JV/C plays at 5:15, Varsity 7pm. Bus returns when the varsity match is over. Policy for JV/C Team is to remain for minimum of one varsity set.
INSTRASQUAD SCRIMMAGE - TUESDAY, SEPT 6TH
Please plan to join us on Tuesday, September 6th for our Intra-squad Scrimmage night. We'll begin at 4pm with a C-Team Scrimmage, followed JV and then Varsity. This will be a dress-rehearsal for our first match on Thursday, September 8th vs Lake Washington.
The evening will also be another time to get signed-up for volunteer jobs on home match nights. Many hands make light work! We need everyone to pitch-in and help out with the following jobs for both JV and C-Team home matches:
Scorekeeper
Scoreboard or flipper
Libero Tracker
Line Judge (2x)
